  • for rooms up to: 28...55m²

efficiency: - dB

  • frequency response: 22 - 30.000 Hz
  • crossover ranges: 800 / 2600 Hz

impedance: 4 Ohm (4..8 Ohm in the brochures is not according to the standard, all loudspeakers of all manufacturers have 4 Ohm according to the standard)

Special equipment

  • Removable front grille
  • Younger models with replaceable tweeter fuse
  • Clearly, if not immediately obvious, designed for recumbent operation.
  • Had got myself a pair on a whim and experimented around with them-.
  • Lying L/R as specified, i.e. tweeter/midrange inwards, they sound worlds better than standing.
  • Doesn't look so great anymore, but ..... who wants to sound good, has to suffer!
  • However, it makes sense to replace the crossover capacitors with new ones. It doesn't have to be the upper class Mundorf. But good IT Audyn make a difference. I can only advise that. Furthermore, it makes sense to replace the insulation with pyramid foam (5cm) and leave nothing else in it.

Then you search a long time to find something comparable. Precise, dry and airy bass, great mids and crystal clear highs.... Alright, spaciousness is not like a point source, but OK. Fits. Have fun, with quite cheap, totally underrated speakers!

Reports

  • For rooms from 28 - 55 m² (manufacturer's specification).
  • The speaker has very sensitive dome tweeters. Therefore, used speakers should be tested before buying. Defective tweeters can even be repaired by Canton today (2007), if you send them in! Costs: approx. 70 €/piece. The repair is called reconen at Canton. For this reason, Canton has equipped more recent models with a screw-out tweeter fuse in the rear panel. If you want to retrofit this yourself, you will need a fuse (1.25 A Flink) and a screw-on fuse holder to install it. The fuse is connected in the positive wire between crossover and tweeter.

The GLE 100 was manufactured as a left and right speaker, i.e. the speaker pair is asymmetrical, as the tweeter is always located on the outside.

  • The sound of the box is excellent!
  • At that time a "high flyer". It should be noted that the tweeter is very sensitive. I used to kill 2 of them.

The last series has fuses in front of the tweeters. Today the sound does not inspire me any more so. Find the treble are tuned too loud and from the voices missing the chest.
