Translife

Company profile[edit]

In spring 1999, the physicist Norbert Schäfer and the graduate engineer Joachim Zürn founded Translife GmbH in 74214 Schöntal-Oberkessach (Osterburker Str. 14), which was registered by the Stuttgart District Court on 7.04.1999 (HRB640K).

Norbert Schäfer had already made a name for himself since the seventies as a developer of loudspeaker boxes for his company Phonogen, for ATL and for Designakustik Schäfer.
With the Largo he led, for the Translife Media Systems, the Trans series already introduced at Phonogen with the Transfer into a third generation.
Joachim Zürn, whose diploma thesis about "computer-aided theoretical acquisition of various loudspeaker and cabinet parameters" has become the basis for many a loudspeaker design, took over the economic management and sales.

Until the onset of the economic and banking crises in the mid-2000s, the company was able to hold its own respectably.
However, in 2008, the owners decided to cease business operations to wait for "better times".
On 29.05.2012, the Federal Gazette published the final deletion of the company, registered under HRB590640 at the Stuttgart District Court. The stocks of parts and production equipment were liquidated at the end of 2013.
