Myro Time 2

Description[edit]

Top of the line model, contains the best chassis made of ceramic by Accuton and an Air Motion Transformer by Mundorf.
In the course of conceptual planning, some targets were set, such as:

  • a significantly smaller design than the Myro Time 1
  • a wide transmission range with low phase drift at the transmission ends

as perfect as possible signal/time correct interaction of the systems a radiation pattern with almost cylindrical wave characteristics

This required:

  • woofer drivers with very favourable parameters for small volumes

woofers that can also be used as very high quality midrange drivers, up to the frequency range of the Accuton C50 midrange domes

  • a cabinet geometry with delay compensation of the acoustic centres
  • bass drivers in sound line arrangement

For the number and arrangement of the drivers the concept of the Myro Heaven's Gate is taken up again in a smaller scale. Exception: the tweeter is not an array of three AMTs, but an Air Motion Transformer (AMT) by Mundorf, developed exclusively for the Time 2. This AMT is larger and more powerful than the standard types. The midrange drivers are also close to standard, but specially modified for the best sonic result.

Due to the very large diaphragm area (900 sq cm) and the closed, large-volume cabinet of the speaker, an excellent low-frequency reproduction is achieved. The transient response is favoured by the very low built-in quality and ranks among the absolute top. The extremely complex, passive equalisation of the low frequencies in the crossover took several months to develop. In order to calm the grilles in front of the diaphragms and to prevent a negative sonic influence, they are provided with plastic nubs in some places.
The cabinet contains struts inside, which lead to no parallel surfaces, so that no standing waves can form. The crossover is located behind the aluminium side panels. For better heat dissipation there are air slots in it.

The radiation pattern is vertically directed and horizontally wide open. In practice, this means that relatively little energy is radiated towards the floor and ceiling in the mid and high frequencies, thus mitigating the unpleasant initial reflections. This is ideal for a loudspeaker in the living room and not only there!
The vertical dispersion, the fading out, is extraordinarily even. At the optimum listening distance of more than 3.5 m, the listener can lie on the sofa or sit on a bar stool without significant signal distortions clouding the sound image.
The Time's tweeter has a tall, narrow diaphragm. Its sound radiation is vertically stronger and horizontally less directed. The reproduced signal shapes (input = output) are excellent under horizontal listening angles. In practice, this means that the listeners in their living room can sit widely spread on their seating furniture.
