Bose 901 IV

Brief description

The fourth edition of the Bose 901, a direct and indirect radiating loudspeaker introduced as early as 1968, was introduced just two years after its predecessor. The speaker enclosure and HVC drivers were taken from the Series III.
The equalizer of the Series IV was heavily revised. The control range is now ±8 decibels. Visually, it differs by a continuous black stripe on the aluminum front.

Reports

  • Stereoplay issue 01/1980
  • "It is amazing what sonority comes out of such a small speaker. I was particularly impressed by the powerful bass reproduction, with which low frequencies become physically tangible. Even doors start to vibrate and shelves to rattle. A bass drum stands in its full size in the room and makes the eardrum tremble. Besides the enormous bass reproduction I was struck by the oversized three-dimensionality artfully produced by this speaker. From a small living room the Bose conjures up a giant hall. The listener really believes he is standing in the middle of a concert hall."
