The HS 650 turntable (automatic) was partly delivered with an Audio Technica pickup system. Until today original belts, needles, etc. are still available on the net. Of course you can also mount any other magnetic system with 2 screws. Also the carbon tonearm and the turntable are top of the range. Nowadays you can buy carbon tonearms for over 1500 Euron. Externally the HS 650 made a rather inexpensive impression, but appearances are deceptive in this case. Just the fact that the units are still running and being traded today is an accolade in itself. I own several turntables and the Telefunken runs quietly, sounds great with the AT system and the lift is very smooth. At that time, I preferred the Japanese because of the appearance, but today I must confess that the technology of this device is excellent.
