• Kenwood MD technology is based on Sharp ATRAC technology. It is slightly different from the inventor Sony's, the numbers (ATRAC 4.5 etc. are not directly comparable).
• The Kenwood DM-3090 had a Sharp sister model: Sharp MD-R 2 H (also tested together in Stereoplay 4/1998).
• Only about half the space was used in the cabinet. The power supply is simple, but shielded with metal.
• Audio 2/1998: Good, upper class. 65 points (Digital 65/ Analog 65), 3 ears
• Stereoplay 4/1998: Good (upper middle class), 19 points (some months later double counting: 38 points)
• Stereo 4/1998: Test rating: 2 stars, very good. "Very inexpensive MD deck with solid technology and equipment. Technically similar to the Sharp MD-R 2 H." (Best List)
