Remarks

  • New in 1992 is the change of the level display from the old Philips standard to the DIN standard (IEC94). 0db on the display now corresponds to a bandwidth of 250nWb/m instead of 160nWb/m as before.
  • Accordingly, the Dolby symbol is now 4db lower at -1db, instead of +3db as before.
  • The Pioneer CT-S610 is largely identical in construction to the Pioneer CT-S 810 S, without Dolby S and smaller unit feet. The CT-S 610 is remotely controllable in the system bus of Pioneer.
  • With the CT-S 810 S, it is the last cassette deck from Pioneer with left and vertically inserted drive.

Reviews

  • Stereo 5/1993: Very good, 2 stars, Stereo recommendation (together with Yamaha KX-670), " + : High-quality double-capstan drive with excellent synchronisation, uncoloured sound even with two-layer tapes, -: reproduction not particularly low-noise." (citation p.22)
