Excerpt from a review of the Antares:
About the midrange: the legendary midrange driver of the Audio Quasar made hi-fi history. About the tweeter: A tried and tested one: Scan-Speak's small fabric dome tweeter with its rubberized front against reflections is a known quantity. About the construction: For a stable reproduction of the sound image, the Audio-Quasar developers arranged the midrange and tweeter symmetrically. The lower bass range of the Antares is provided by a ribbon bass construction that only emits sound via the reflex port (bottom left) to the outside world. Prospect: The Antares' capacitors are of top quality. In some cases even the very expensive Mundorf Supreme series is used. They are long lasting and of very solid construction - even after decades their excellent values are unlikely to change. Enclosures cost money, good enclosures more. The Antares by Audio Quasar, for example, is so perfectly made, despite its elaborate interior construction, that there are few comparable cabinets in this price range: The precisely fitting recess of the tweeter and woofer/midrange, the outstanding finish of the veneer surface and the high stability of the cabinet - everything is just right here. About the sound: ...but a bit more moderate in dealing with toxic brass sections, the Audio Quasar presented itself. The bass was restrained and dry, the bass remained very lean. Nevertheless, the Antares reproduced vocals and classical instruments in an all-round harmonious way and - if required - also let it rip during bass thunderstorms. Her outstanding discipline of positioning individual instruments or vocalists in the most precise way.
