Technical data
- Drive: Belt drive
- Motor: DC motor, controlled via tachogenerator, quartz stabilized PLL control
- Speed: 33 1/3, 45 rpm
- Synchronous speed fluctuations: < 0.05% (DIN), < 0.025% (WRMS)

- Tonearm: straight tonearm with detachable headshell; 1/2" mounting for cartridge
- Cartridge: Philips Super M II GP 406 II
Special Features
- 'DIRECT CONTROL' drive system, combining the advantages of belt and direct drive. The belt drive is controlled by a tachogenerator in the drive pulley. This ensures a constant speed even when the load on the drive varies, e.g. due to cleaning brushes, temperature or mains fluctuations.
- Tonearm balance integrated in the locking position socket.
- Adjustable tracking force and antiskating. Separate scales for spherical and elliptical needle grind available for antiskating.
- Sprung sub-chassis with three leaf springs coupled to the frame.
- Photoelectric limit stop
Remarks[edit]
- Identical in construction to Philips AF 887
- The stock headshell has a 1/2" hole spacing but no slotted holes, so only Philips Super M II series cartridges fit accurately. In order to be able to use pickups from other manufacturers, Philips made a 1/2" universal headshell with slotted holes with the order number 4822 402 60627.
