The magnetic field lines always run from the north poles to the south poles and therefore cross the coil sitting on the needle carrier. The manufacturer promises an absolutely discolouration-free reproduction. The needle carrier is obviously a diamond or sapphire solid bar (Fig. p. 218). The stylus consists of a crystal-oriented rod with a square cross-section and an edge length of 0.12 mm, the tip of which is specially elliptically ground (semi-contact-line).
