− | The company was based in Berlin, after the Second World War the headquarters were in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. In 1967, AEG merged with its subsidiary Telefunken to form Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft AEG-Telefunken. In 1979, the name was changed to AEG-Telefunken Aktiengesellschaft. After the takeover by Daimler-Benz and the outsourcing of the Telefunken business units, the name was changed again to AEG Aktiengesellschaft. The consumer electronics division had already been bundled under the brand name TELEFUNKEN in earlier years. Thus the first tape recorders bore the brand name AEG and only later the TELEFUNKEN logo.
