Since my last bulky waste find there is also a pair of Tannoy Eaton Loudspeakers listen.

The first impression: The Eatons come in the old-fashioned box design. Although the loudspeakers are really not big they have already received several repulsive comments from the family.

When playing the first few bars of music the speaker sounds a bit musty. The sound lacks a bit of sparkling highs. Only when you are in the stereo triangle a good sound comes across. The Eaton's tweeter only radiates towards the front. The lower bass range is completely lacking. Only above 100 Hz the music plays. Why do I ask myself? The bass membrane is softly suspended and brings simply no power. Maybe the magnet has suffered after such a long time? Despite its size the speaker needs a SUB.

After longer listening the positive details come to the fore.

The stereo impression is very good. The music is simply coherent. You don't have to strain yourself while listening, the sounds are spatially well distinguishable. However, the speaker is not able to reproduce the depth of the room as well as other speakers. The musicians are rather positioned on a line between the speakers.

The voices are not live, but very neutral.

3. fine details are somewhat swallowed compared to "high end" speakers.

4) If you look at the drivers and the crossover: Real high end. The embedded tweeter capacitors beat so called MK capacitors by Mundorf. At least with this chassis.
