Talk:Onkyo D-5

I've got myself a pair of these and although the woofers needed re-foaming I was very impressed with the sound. The build quality is really good, cabinets very well made and heavy. Quality wood laminate all around, beautiful walnut sides and navy blue laminate for the front. The woofers are built of aluminium alloy of very high quality and craftmanship, the attention to detail is outstanding, the finish is impeccable and there is also a rubber surround to cover the basket edge. I didn't get the chance to observe the crossover networks and the midrange and tweeter fittings are hard to undo but overall there is a very high quality look and design to these speakers. The binding posts are also very easy to use and high quality metal screws with bare wire capabilities. The midrange and high range adjustments make a lot of difference in sound quality, they are smooth and accurate with optimal range graded on the labels. Midrange and tweeter drivers are metal mesh protected and this mesh is really sturdy. Although there aren't many around these days, I reckon these are keepers if you find a good pair. Beat the hell out of similar sized and spec-ed speakers!
