Talk:Denon SC-F 88

The rating of the Denon SC-F88 given by the author of this page only partly reflects the actual quality of the speaker. As solid as the quite small housing is built, it is also overloaded by the built-in bass chassis. The tweeter can't cope with the the exaggerated bass and lacks any clarity and transparency. Due to the overemphasized bass the loudness is built into the speaker. In order to get to the bottom of the weird sound, I disassembled the entire speaker I disassembled the entire speaker and found several design flaws: An unusually wired crossover, which simply suppresses the highest the highest treble frequencies; a rather sloppy design of the crossover without resonance isolation and with too short connecting short connecting cables, making any repair a finger pain; cheap looking components on the crossover; an efficiency combination of the two drivers that makes even much cheaper speakers sound better, very unbalanced; the insulation material is too sparingly used. material is chosen too sparingly. All in all, a development quality that comes across as surprisingly poor and doesn't correspond to the price range price range at all - only the case itself comes up with solid robustness. My conclusion: Not recommendable!
