- STUDER wrote succinctly in the brochure at the time:
- Digital recording on magneto-optical media with 16, 20 or 24 bit resolution. Capacity 120 minutes stereo per side (44.1 kHz, 16 bit). Inputs and outputs AES/EBU, S/PDIF or analog via 24 bit A/D and D/A converters.
- STUDER D424 remote control
- Integrated time code synchroniser. Lossless editing with adjustable crossfades by fast access to any location on the media. Remote control interface, SCSI port, RS 422 port with Sony protocol. The remote control in console form controls up to three D424 devices.
- The D424 quickly disappeared from the range and was not replaced by any other recording medium of this type.
