Reviews[edit]
- The TC-158 SD was an upmarket > aspirational portable cassette deck.
- It was Sony's second largest portable, next to its big brother the TC-164 SD.
- If you like, it was the forerunner of the Walkman, only slightly larger
- It was about the same size as a Uher Report 4000 series tape recorder.
- It was well suited for both outdoor and hi-fi use
- The features are as follows:
- Mains, battery operation (4 x mono cells) and external 6 volt connection.
- Microphone (jack) and line inputs and outputs (Cinch & DIN!), if necessary with limiter possible
- 2 large VU meters (illuminated) with common peak display
- Dolby B
- Tape types iron oxide, chrome and ferrochrome with 3-way bias switch
- Large monitor speaker (mono), stereo via headphones
- 2 audio heads, one of them F&F head, no rear band control possible
