All versions have a dielectric (electrically non-conductive, non-metallic substance and non-magnetic whose charge carriers are generally not freely movable), which is exposed to electromagnetic fields.
If, for example, an electro-magnetic interference field acts around the loudspeaker cable, this is not passed on via the dielectric because the charge carriers are not freely movable in the dielectric, they are polarised by an external electrical field. The dielectric between the conductors of the individual cables essentially determines their line characteristic impedance and the frequency-dependent attenuation per length.
Dielectric waveguides and elements made of polyethylene, PTFE, ceramics (e.g. steatite, aluminium oxide), mica or air are also used in high-frequency technology and obey the same laws of refraction here as in optics or in fibre-optic cables, since these generally have particularly low dielectric loss factors.
Special Equipment
- Electric microwave grounding
An electrically conductive connection with the electrical potential of the ground is created via a separate connection option. Through the ground connection (grounding) a conductive connection with the conductive environment is created via the Schuko socket. This prevents damage to the amplifier or loudspeaker - which could possibly be caused by lightning.
