Reviews[edit]

Conclusion of the test report of "Area DVD":

"For the 800.00 EUR price range, the performances of the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1 are simply outstanding. The active subwoofer Mordaunt-Short MS 308 Sub inspires with dynamics and assertiveness, in listening rooms up to almost 20 square meters it delivers a very good performance even at higher levels. The low bass of the compact component was just as convincing in the test as the astonishingly solid volume. But that's not all, even in music mode the Mordaunt Short MS 308Sub doesn't "babble" imprecisely, but offers a remarkable degree of exact reproduction. The four identical Mordaunt-Short MS 302 satellites and the larger centre do not want to take a back seat to their "low frequency partner" and complete the excellent overall impression with their high tonal homogeneity. Disturbing sound holes, as they can be heard more often with not too expensive subwoofer/satellite combinations, are foreign to the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1, such a complete sound impression is offered, as if larger shelf speakers were doing their job and not the quite compact Mordaunt Short satellites Mordaunt Short MS302. The performance of the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1 in the high frequency range is also pleasing, here the components play freely and without the slightly busy sound characteristic of many cheaper systems. Even at high levels the sound of the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1 is still clear and clean, provided the listening room is not too large. We also approve of the workmanship of the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1 - with one small exception: the speaker covers don't seem to be of particularly high quality or durability, even when new they throw slight waves. But this small shortcoming doesn't change the fact that Mordaunt-Short has managed to create a full sub/sat system at a comparatively modest price that sounds very usable not only in home cinema but also in multi-channel music. Not to forget: even in stereo use, the performance of the Mordaunt Short Premiere 5.1 is good - the homogeneity is also right here, the sub convinces through appropriate use."
