Lexicon Tuner
Tuners are radio receivers without amplifier. At the output one finds the demodulated audio signal with line level. In contrast, a Receiver has an additional Power Amplifier integrated, so that Loudspeakers can be connected directly. An intermediate solution is the rather rare Preceiver, which consists of a tuner and Preamplifier and must be supplemented by Power Amplifier.
In a more general sense, the term tuner is also used to refer to the receiver assembly in television sets, video recorders, etc.
