The JWS Audio System (Waldstr. 122, 6050 Offenbach) was founded in the mid-seventies as a continuation of the Audio Technica distributor J.W. Audio-Repräsentanzen by Josef Wetz.
Wetz had taken over the German distribution of the loudspeaker boxes of Hans Deutsch GmbH & Co. KG (Bachstr. 9/I, 5020 Salzburg) and eventually became involved. Shortly thereafter, the Salzburg company was then completely taken over by JWS and they parted ways with the Austrian "acoustic researcher".
While Hans Deutsch sought a new partnership in Munich in 1976 and designed another generation of loudspeaker boxes, JWS continued to offer the familiar, partly revised models into the 1980s.
