ISS operating principle[edit]

ISS is a subwoofer system developed by Heco. The bass systems work in completely separate acoustic chambers and are decoupled extremely steeply (18-24 dB/oct.) between 150-250 Hz via the crossover. The result: a precise, extremely deep bass. All Superior models (except Superior 620) can therefore be regarded as a "cum basso continuo system". The basis of the ISS technology is a low-midrange loudspeaker, the so-called bass driver. The fundamental range between 300 and approx. 3000 Hz, which is particularly critical for the auditory system, must be reproduced as true to phase as possible. If the fundamental range is not transmitted in a time-accurate and sound-neutral manner, the overall reproduction of instruments and voices cannot be faithfully reproduced and free of coloration. Therefore, this range is reproduced by only one phase-stable transducer. This low-midrange speaker is equipped with a low-resonance, high-fidelity polypropylene cone diaphragm mounted in a torsionally rigid die-cast light alloy chassis.
