                                    Company history


1866 Foundation as Ehrich & Graetz OHG, Berlin. Manufacture of lamps, burners, cookers and heating stoves for liquid and gaseous fuels.

1887 Ehrich Graetz dies. His sons Max and Adolf Graetz take over the company.

1899 A new production facility is built in Berlin - Treptow (Elsenstraße). The workforce amounts to approx. 1000 people.

1925 Graetz begins to sell radios from the company Elektro - Watt GmbH

1928 The Elektro - Watt company moves to Berlin - Treptow and is taken over by Graetz. Fritz Graetz, a son of Max Graetz takes over the management.

1929 The first appliances appear in the catalogues under the name Graetz.

1933 The company is renamed. From now on it is called Graetz - Radio AG.

1938 Graetz is in seventh place in Germany / Austria.

1941 The workforce now comprises approx. 3500 people

1942 All business activities are now combined in the Graetz AG.


 	                   After 1945 West Germany

1947 The company produces radio sets again in Altena (Westphalia)

1961 Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (SEL, ITT subsidiary) takes over the majority shares of Graetz. In West Germany there are 13 manufacturing sites.

1977 Until 1977 you can regularly find devices in the catalogues

1986 ITT sells SEL and with it the shares in Graetz to the French group Alcatel. Group Alcatel.

01.01.1988 The Finnish Nokia group takes over the audio and video division and with it the Schaub-Lorenz and Graetz brands. The Graetz factory in Bochum is one of the largest of its kind.


                               after 1945 East Germany

1945 The Stern - Radio - Rochlitz factory produces radios again

1948 The Berlin Treptow plant also produces radios again.

1949 Expropriation and transfer to public ownership as VEB Graetz, Berlin.

1950 The plant is renamed VEB Fernmeldewerk, Berlin Treptow (RFFT).

1951 Last radio sets appear

1953 The plant is now called VEB Werk für Signal- und Sicherungstechnik, Berlin (WSSB)

1992 Siemens takes over the company ==
