regarding the efficiency there are actually 2 different specifications, 83 dB and 86 dB. In the brochure of the 250 4 pi, Elac itself states an efficiency of 83 dB at 1 watt / 1 metre. On Elac's FTP server, in the product archive, the figure 86 dB can be found. One can agree that the efficiency is rather low, regardless of the difference of 3 dB. Certainly, the 250 4pi requires powerful power amplifiers, not only starting at approx. 150 Watts (120 Watts were specified at the time), but the power amplifiers should also be able to cope with the low impedance of only a little more than 2 Ohms.
