The twinactive concept is a special version of the AXIS 5 with the special expansion stage of the 5-way kit. The AF 502 electronic crossover unit has, via the two Cinch sockets, a stereo input, which is directly driven by a preamplifier or headphone output. On the output side it is connected to the two stereo power amplifiers via the 4 Cinch sockets.
Advantages of the semi-active principle: Due to the direct coupling of the bass speaker to the power amplifier, the latter is able to better control the bass diaphragm, as there is no coil in the signal path. Since the mid-treble range also has its own power amplifier, there is no negative effect on the bass response. there is no longer any negative influence on the mid-treble range in the case of large bass attacks. During a listening test you will notice that there is a precision of the low bass and an improvement of the maximum dynamic is to be found in the entire frequency range. This speaker thus has the extreme ability for dynamic music reproduction, which is coupled in spatial imaging and exceptional quietness.

Remarks[edit]
Other models of the same series: What probably achieves little attention, Dynaudio offered in its conception 24 db crossovers, which seemed quite revolutionary in the "time". This technology, with all its technical challenges, ultimately guaranteed the quality of the products. A beautiful ideal world...
