Dokorder

Company profile[edit]

Dokorder stands for Denki Onkyo Co Ltd, NOT Denon. See also factory nameplate:

DENki ONkyo is a general term for "electric sound". And Dokorder was not related to Onkyo either! Rare Japanese brand known for loudspeakers and tape-based products that ceased production in about 1976/77 shortly after the release of the Model 1140. Luxman apparently bought the Dokorder factory to expand its own operations (that is, for the 5K50 and other tape-based components) and Dokorder was eventually acquired by Murata in 1982 - and Luxman by Alpine a year later. More likely, Alpine took over the Dokorder business and handled the new Lux recorders at this particular factory.
