CASIO (jap. カシオ計算機株式会社 Kashio Keisanki Kabushiki-gaisha, English Casio Computer Co., Ltd). is a Japanese technology company based in Shibuya, Tokyo. Casio produces calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, electronic musical instruments and digital watches, among other products.

Company History In 1946, the predecessor company Kashio Seisakujo (樫尾製作所, German "Kashio-Werk") was founded in Tokyo by the four Kashio brothers. In order to operate internationally, the present Casio Computer Co., Ltd. was formed on June 1, 1957, and mass production of calculators began that same year. Starting in 1965, electronic desktop calculators with memory were produced. In 1974, Casio launched its first digital wristwatch, Casiotron, with ten additional functions. In 1984 Casio released its first synthesizer, the CZ-101, and in 1995 it began selling digital cameras. In 1996, the company presented its first PDA with Microsoft Windows CE under the name Casio Cassiopeia.

Watches

Casio was one of the first producers of digital wristwatches and is known for incorporating many functions into small wristwatches (such as stopwatch, digital compass, altimeter and barometer, thermometer, GPS, digital camera, remote control). Since 2000, Casio has also offered globally functioning radio-controlled watches and classically designed analogue watches.

An early programmable calculator was the FX-201P, produced in 1976. Programmable were jump instructions, loops, subroutines. 1/x and the root were calculated to 10 digits, the other functions to 8 digits.[2] Current Casio scientific calculators support spreadsheet calculations, numerical solving of equations, prime factorization, matrix calculations, and offer the possibility to further process results online via QR code
