Blaupunkt PT-3890
Description[edit]
The inner workings of the Blaupunkt Artech PT-3890 are the same as those of the Sansui TU-X 701. While the Sansui was offered in a classy exterior, and is still traded relatively high today, the outer appearance of the PT-3890 is normally plain, with very good workmanship. However, the electronics are very high quality, as the technical data suggest.

Special Features
- The tuner has two antenna inputs, which means that both an outdoor FM antenna and an antenna cable for cable connection can be connected, and the antenna can be selected by pushbutton.
- The bandwidth of the input filters and the intermediate frequency can be switched separately from "near" to "far", or "narrow" to "wide".
- Direct frequency input: Instead of using the keys to search for the desired station, the transmit frequency can be entered directly.
- Operation differs from usual tuners. An entry must be confirmed again by pressing a separate key.

Summary[edit]
The sound impression of this tuner is excellent, provided that the signal arrives cleanly at the antenna connection. If your favorite station is still noisy or distorted, it's either due to an inadequate alignment of the outdoor FM antenna, or a lousy FM signal from your cable provider.
