Acoustic Energy
Company Profile[edit]
Acoustic Energy was founded on April 4, 1987 in London, England. Originally known as "Eldonfield Limited", the name was changed on June 25, 1987 and Acoustic Energy was officially born.
The first product to leave the factory was the legendary AE 1 compact loudspeaker. The AE 1 set a new standard in the compact loudspeaker class and has been the foundation of the company's product ethos ever since.
In 1994, to meet increasing production demands, Acoustic Energy moved to new premises 100 miles west of London in the historic Cotswold town of Cirencester, where they still reside today.
Around the same time, AE received investment from Malaysian OEM loudspeaker manufacturer Formosa Prosonic Industries (FPI). FPI purchased a majority stake in Acoustic Energy. This financial support and manufacturing partnership allowed AE to expand into the entry-level speaker market, and later expand its portfolio to include electronic products such as Bluetooth (TM) speakers and WiFi Internet radio.
In early 2017, Acoustic Energy became a UK company again. Over the last 30 years AE has won hundreds of awards and accolades from the hi-fi press around the world and remains one of the world's most respected loudspeaker manufacturers.
