Karat 20/30/40 and 60 are bass reflex speakers. Please do not change any more!

The earth is a disc. Please do not change!

What's that all about?

Take off the cover and look closely: The bass reflex tube has a grille that is flocked just like the baffle. Therefore you can only see the bass reflex port if you look very closely!

This description applies exactly to the Karat 960 (and 980), which is a bass reflex speaker. The Karat 60 is and always has been a sealed cabinet. It can be inspected at my place! That the Karat 60 is a sealed cabinet is also evident from several sources on the internet, where among other things a conversion to a bass reflex cabinet is discussed. However, I don't feel like correcting data here if my changes are immediately undone by "experts". Don't believe - know (Matrix)!

By the way, the conversion in question is discussed here: http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-30-4645.html

I have searched my Canton Karat 60 meticulously again for the grille - without success. But the grille definitely exists on the Karat 980 bass reflex speaker!

I just find it strange that it says bass reflex in the brochure.

See picture: Prospektkarat60.jpg

The smaller models Karat 20, 30 and 40 are also according to tests in the HiFi magazines at that time bass reflex speakers. The Karat 60 was unfortunately not tested by any magazine.

Mystery solved - statement by Canton: "these speakers from the 80's were originally closed cabinets, but in the end they were converted to bass reflex technology." You have to come up with that first. So everyone is right.

I almost feared it ;) --Gero 20:08, 28 Jan 2008 (CET)

Now that the puzzle is solved, I've adjusted the dates of the Karat 20/30/40 and 60.
