Standard Elektrik Lorenz, belonging to the American ITT, founded in 1958, operated many plants for electrical engineering, communications engineering and electronics, mainly in southern Germany, with at times over 30,000 employees; the loudspeaker plant in Straubing was the largest European loudspeaker manufacturer and an important supplier to the German loudspeaker industry. Later affiliations with Alcatel and Nokia respectively
