Er wurde 1995 in Japan gebaut und kann beim UKW-Empfang mit den Legenden [[Onkyo T-9990|T-9990]] und [[Onkyo T-4970|T-4970]] verglichen werden. In Stereoplay wurde er gegen seinen Vorgänger T 9990 getestet, und es wurde kein Unterschied festgestellt. Er trennt messerscharf, hat auch noch RDS und alles erdenklich nützliche für den anspruchsvollen UKW Hörer.
