Reviews

The Harman Kardon was several times test winner in all well-known Hifi- magazines. It has been classified in the top class 1 with a sensational price/performance ratio. For 1000 DM there was no better amplifier at that time and even today the device is hard to beat. It captivates by a powerful, warm sound and by a very good spatial representation. One should pay attention with the acquisition however to the fact that all Potis work scratch-free. A well preserved unit with manual in mint condition and without the mentioned potentiometer problem can cost up to 300 Euro.

  • Soundwise it is also worth this.

For a 1000 DM device very simply and inexpensive processed. Denon Onkyo Rotel Pioneer and Yamaha have built much better devices! Soundwise it is first cream!

  • At that time (1990) extensive sound comparisons were a deeper bass foundation compared to Onkyo, Denon, etc. noted, but the processing was definitely not as high quality, at high volumes was always a background noise audible, but hard to beat in sound in the class, After 15 years, the pots scratched with temporary channel failure on the balance control.

After about 10 years I had the pots cleaned in a specialist workshop in Bremen. The result for the 180€ was very good. Until today in the year 2020 it runs.
