Reviews

  • Very nice and timeless mono unit with excellent radio reception. The Grundig C6000 automatic became the best-selling radio recorder in its sector within a very short time in the 1970s. During the sales period of several years, more than 500,000 units were sold. The sensational radio reception was certainly one of the reasons for this success. The cassette part was not outstanding, but fulfilled the standard of that time. Unfortunately, the cassette drive is quite susceptible to failure nowadays (the gears of the drive tend to crumble due to the soft plastic material used at that time - intact units are therefore very rare). Only on the first series, gears made of harder plastic were used, but this also caused somewhat louder operating noises. These drive noises then annoyingly disturbed the recordings from the built-in microphone. For this reason, they used a softer and smoother plastic for the gears from the second series on. Unfortunately, this also affects the durability and long-term stability of the gears. Unfortunately, this problem affects all Grundig cassette drives of all series.
