Aiwa was a Japanese company specializing in multimedia equipment. Aiwa was founded in 1951 and initially manufactured microphones.
The company achieved notoriety by pioneering hi-fi capable tape recorders and produced Japan's first digital tape recorder.
Together with Sony, it was the leader in the field of small cassette players (Walkman). Aiwa was later bought by Sony.
