R&R Rada L
The RADA L from R+R Raumklang is a real showpiece of the, unfortunately no longer existing, speaker forge from Recklinghausen. The Nebel brothers created this slim and very "housewife-friendly" (white or black lacquer finish) 3-way floorstanding speaker as a symbiosis of subwoofer unit + midrange and tweeter chassis. In the magazine Hifi-Vision this loudspeaker was rated "good" - for a loudspeaker from a small manufacturer, who, as far as I know, didn't advertise in this magazine, a quite acceptable result. Unfortunately, I only own a replica of this type, since the original was no longer available in 2000. I would describe the listening experience as follows: Precise treble - powerful, crisp bass - a little too velvety midrange. At that time, the drivers were not spared - the speakers cost about 4000 DM as a pair. The midrange drivers alone - I think they were made in Norway (otherwise please correct me) - cost about 600DM/piece. In my opinion, the crossover was a little bit neglected - more could have been achieved with the midrange drivers.
Conclusion: The RADA L was a visually and sonically excellent speaker. Should it be offered again, I will definitely be one of the first buyers - and that in 2009!
