Remarks

Remote controllable via Onkyo RI system. Then also with many Onkyo CD player remote controls with switch usable;

  • There is no timer;
  • Other models in the same series:
  • Both externally and internally, the TA-6510 is largely identical in construction to its predecessor, the TA-2051. Only the color of the rear panel and the lettering on the unit (on the 2051 = gold) differ! Also the BdA has the same text.

The unit still has "the old" Onkyo dimensions: 45.5 cm width. With the next smaller deck, the TA-6310, it is above all outwardly similar in construction, that has however a single Capstan drive, Dolby S and more automatic functions.

Test reports

  • Stereoplay 10/95: good, 16 (later 32) points
  • Stereo 11/95: very good, 2 stars: "With three motors, double capstan technology and elaborate sound head mechanics, the 6510 not only achieves a stable, clear sound image, but also promises a long life. And thanks to sophisticated electronics, even with Dolby C it produces as little noise as some simple Dolby S decks - especially with metal tapes." (Stereo, 11/95, p.36).
