Bose 901 III

Short description

Third edition of this speaker introduced by Bose in 1968.
Year of manufacture: circa 1976.

Technical changes

  • Enclosure

Now manufactured using a high-pressure injection molding process.
Each driver now sits in its own chamber. The low bass is mainly radiated via the three air columns at the rear of the speaker (flow velocities of over 100 km/h).

  • Chassis

With the Series III came the HVC driver. HVC stands for "Helical Voice Coil." It has a higher efficiency compared to the original driver of the series I and II. This is especially true for the low bass. Can be seen as the most important development step of the entire construction period.

  • Associated Equilizer'

The equalizer is new and now has contour switches for treble and mid-bass.
