Remarks[edit]
English handmade machine from the 70s. This machine is a Dolby (R) version. All supporting components are made of solid aluminium, but nevertheless this Super Seven, like all Ferrographs, is very heavy at 26Kg.
Ferrograph Super Seven is the further development of the Series Seven, which could not handle 26.5 cm spools. Because of the maximum usable 26.5 cm coils, the new winding motors were introduced with this model. The Super Seven offers four speeds, three of which are always directly selectable (7.5, 19 and 38). Ferrograph Super Seven is designed as a 3-head machine, where the recording can basically be levelled to the "original" by the adjustment controls mounted on the front panel. This machine is a half-track machine. All inputs, as well as all outputs are designed as 6.3 mm jacks, which are unconnected to ground via internal contacts. Thus, the term "open inputs or outputs" is not encountered at Ferrograph, but is unfortunately unavoidable with fashionable RCA connections.
Rubber parts[edit]
Due to age, the rubber parts of these machines decompose. Especially the capstan roller and 3 pressure rollers. Since there is up-to-date again the possibility to vulcanize these on the original cores, this was also carried out with this machine. this machine as well. For example DAVE DURRANT (david.durrant@btinternet.com) from England offers a convincing service with very good results. To re-vulcanize all four wheels at Dave, this service costs about 70 EURO incl. shipping.
