Company profile[edit]

The best known product of the company PFLEID - Wohnraumakustik, Munich was the full range loudspeaker FRS20R or S., where the R refers to the shelf speaker and the S to the floorstanding speaker. Both types of speakers were built as passive or active systems. The passive systems were supplied with an additional PP100 equaliser to be looped into the signal path, the active versions had it integrated into the speakers alongside the amplifier technology. This equaliser works as a complex circuit, which is formed as a 3rd order differential equation by corresponding coefficients. The effect thus corresponds to a compensated transfer function, since the coefficients are tuned in such a way that an acoustic square wave signal form becomes possible. This ensures a match in magnitude and phase in the musically important range. This correction (TPS=Transducer Preset System) is done in absolute real time using analogue technology.

Characteristic of the full range driver of these speakers was the rubber ring around the titanium dome, which means a separation from the high frequency range to the range of the Nawi diaphragm. The drive on titanium voice coil former with aluminium coil and copper short circuit ring as a powerful broadband drive with equalisation according to magnitude and phase ensures a linear transmission from 35Hz - 20kHz. This was the first full range point source loudspeaker designed as a shelf speaker. Later a floorstanding speaker was developed - optionally with an additional subwoofer in the base, which worked without(!) crossover. This way, the 1st octave was also included in the transmission.

Pfleid stopped the production of their own products in 1995.
