Dutch manufacturer of consumer electronics, PC drives and household appliances. Founded in Eindhoven (Netherlands) in 1891 by Frederik and Gerard Philips. Developed the compact cassette and DCC, together with Sony the CD in the early 1980s and the SACD in the 1990s. Classical record label until 199?.
