Remarks[edit]

Braun color coding[edit]

The typical BRAUN design by Dieter Rams can be seen here mainly by the color coding of the connectors, which can be found in almost all devices of the Braun Regie series. Here on the Regie 520, the controls are coloured through. In other devices you can only find coloured imprints on black controls. The color selection is clearly a tribute to the early 70s, but still classically timeless.

200pxBraun PS500 PowerOn.JPG
  • Red = FM ( the label on the FM dial and the FM scale are also red).
  • White = AM (the label on the AM dial and the AM scale are also white). .
  • Brown = Band
  • Yellow = Phono (on the black model of the BRAUN turntable PS 500 the start button is also yellow)
  • Green = Stereo (signal light for stereo reception and label for "stereo only") But green is also used for the power button and, on units without an illuminated dial, for the "power on" light.

Tips for buying used[edit]

1. 220 V device on 230/240 V mains:
Device can only be operated with 220 V (50 Hz). In former times a mains voltage of 220V was valid in Germany. In the EU (and now also in Germany), currently a mains voltage of 230/240 V (50 Hz). In 2009, the tolerance threshold will be further increased. In extreme cases up to 250 V mains voltage can be present. This can lead to problems during operation and to a reduction in service life. Due to the increased mains voltage of 5% (230 V) or 9% (240 V), the device may heat up more. increased heating of the device must be expected.
2. prices according to collectors catalogue 2006 (see above)
Condition A: 100.- € Condition B: 80.- € State C: 50.- €
Ebay (2008) 40.- to 85.- € (condition difficult to define)
This device is very often offered for sale in quite good quality (robust box). For design lovers certainly one of the optically most beautiful BRAUN Receiver, since it has a classical (like Regie 510 divided into control area on the left and reception area on the right) and as one of the few devices these funny colored buttons possesses. Of course, Dieter Rams is responsible for the design.
