Remarks[edit]

Successor to the Mission Cyrus Discmaster/Dacmaster combination, can be expanded/improved with Q module.

Other models of the same series:

Special Features

  • "Low-Jitter" clock circuit for most stable conversion (clock jitter below 100 pS), specially designed for Cyrus dAD3.
  • MC-Bus system (for connection with other Cyrus components).
  • connection for Cyrus PSX-R additional power supply, improved DC power supply
  • internal upgrade with improved DAC possible (see Q-Module)

Q-Module[edit]

The Cyrus dAD3 can optionally be upgraded internally with high performance D/A converters. These Q-modules offer further improved playback quality without the need to connect an additional component, which can be detrimental to the sound. When a module is fitted, a 'Q' symbol appears on the unit display.

The former Q module has two monaural 18 bit D/A converters with eightfold oversampling, thus separate conversion for each channel. Furthermore, there is a digital filter, which avoids analog filtering and thus possibly frequency response ripples as well as phase shifts, and a broadband, low-distortion output stage.

The later Q24 module contains two monaural 24 bit D/A converters for even higher resolution conversion. So a fully upgraded Cyrus dAD3 consists of a basic unit plus one of the two Q-modules plus an additional power supply (Cyrus dAD3+Q/Q24+PSX-R).
