• The best DAT, 4!!direct drive motors(never had problems with cassettes),low noise mic.inputs!!better than the 2000.A dream.HW

• Such nonsense,it was the last and cheapest DAT unit from SONY when pretty much no DATs were bought at all. Inside it is almost completely empty, as one American smugly described it - "it is an empty box, nothing else".

• Sorry, this is not a disc. Page, but not the museum is important,I own such a device since it was new, yes also streamers cassettes - no chatter!!HW

• After all, the ZA 5 ES uses the four-motor drive with direct drive and fully adjustable tape guides, which is also used in the 77ES and 2000ES, but only with 2-head technology. The drive (and this is what matters most in a DAT deck) is one of the finest ever built by Sony. The fact that the electronics department has a significantly higher level of integration (i.e. an "empty" housing) is merely due to the advancing state of technology.
