Record player/vinyl better than CD player/CDs ?? I got rid of all my records in 1990 !!! Now I have found a proper equalizer and have to realize that we have been cheated out of CD quality for years. CD quality is getting worse and worse - because every wannabe sound engineer is messing with the digital copies! The ORIGINAL Brother in Arms from 1985 still sounds as good as the 1985 vinyl. The NEW editions e.g. of the Dire Straits were equalized to scrap!!(Worlds)(Compared to the ORIGINAL discs from 1978 - 1985) The Bolero CD (DDD Barenboim Orch.Paris 1982) e.g. is better than the vinyl - the dynamics close to approx. 85 dB!(with CD Player Philips CD 471 - 1987)! The old CD Players (14 or 16 bit) from the last century are not to be passed (DA output stage IS the most important thing with the CD Player)! Of course, today are better rotators and needles - also cheaper than in the past to have! a turntable may have eg.no more than 0.1% synchronization fluctuations and speed deviations! Many "boards with cassette recorder drive" are expensive scrap!HW
