Company profile

Until the mid-1990s, the company I.Q, once based in Essen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), belonged to the circle of manufacturers of loudspeakerboxes, such as shelf and floorstanding speakers as well as subwoofer/satellite and surround systems in "upmarket" quality.

Particularly noteworthy was their premium and "heavy" woodworking of speaker cabinets. In the 1990s, a good-selling representative from the I.Q range was the IQ TED 4 (pair price DM 1,798). During this period, I.Q was in the market with the reference system IQ System One (around 20,000 DM) represented in the reference section of some hi-fi magazines.

Later, the company "Auer Möbel", which was located at the edge of the Swabian Alb in Balingen, bought the brand "I.Q". Since 2007 "Auer Möbel" and thus I.Q no longer exist. The last test of an I.Q speaker (bookshelf speaker I.Q L30) in the magazine "Stereoplay" dates from August 2000.
