Reports

  • The 731Q finally brought quartz locking of the drive control electronics. Unfortunately, however, it also meant the abandonment of a tonearm height adjustment and a non 1/2 inch standard cartridge mount, making the unit quite inflexible in terms of TA selection. In addition, the effective mass of the tonearm has been further reduced.
  • While there is an adapter set that requires the tonearm head to be modified in order to run standard cartridges(which at the same time adds back the few grams of effective mass saved), one wonders if Dual hasn't gone one step forward and two steps back with the 731.
