The Unipolar 2002 is closed to the ear and is the first electret headphone in the world to use two-way systems without an electrical crossover. The concentric arrangement of the two systems in one plane achieves distortion-free reproduction of an unusually wide frequency spectrum. It is also characterized by a particularly high efficiency, so that the highest playback volume levels can be set effortlessly.
The electrostatic headphone system consists of two parts: the Unipolar 2002 headphones and the HER 2000 control unit, which supplies the up-converted audio frequency voltage required to operate the headphones. Without this connection part, the actual receiver cannot be operated.
Technical data:
Transducer principle: electrostatic
Frequency range: 16 - 22,000 Hz
Connection impedance: 4 - 8 Ohm (loudspeaker output)
Sound pressure level at 5 V: 109 dB
Sound pressure level max.: 117 db at 1000 Hz
Max. permissible voltage: 25 V effective
Distortion factor at 110 dB: < 0.1% at 1 Hz
Coupling to the ear: Circumaural, via pad acoustically closed to the ear without ear contact
Contact pressure: approx. 4.5 N (460 p)
Connecting cable earpiece: 3.0 m
Connecting cable control room unit: 1.5 m
Dimensions HER 2000: 75 x 65 x 184 mm
Weight handset: approx. 345 g
Weight control unit: approx. 1,600 g
