Doesn't quite match the sound of the 670. Recordings with the 670 sound better on the 690 (same drive). Operation needs a lot of getting used to, knobs and buttons are hidden by a flap - sometimes less is more. Real time is no longer so great! Poor shielding at the bottom, hum interference given! HW A Lundemann mechanism, an underlay plate so that the air gap straightens out, I claim that Yamaha bought the mechanism from Alps at that time for no more than 20 DM!
