Description[edit]

The designation hints at the purpose and the equipment (Rear Speaker / Diamond, RSD), although it is a conventional, but extremely high-quality compact speaker. In this quality and price class it is the first compact speaker from Myro.

The cabinet shape is adapted to the Myro Amur D/8, the footprint is an octagon. The sloping side panels adjacent to the baffle reduce the diffraction of sound at the baffle edge equal to a very large rounding (parabola). This linearizes the frequency response and provides better omnidirectional sound distribution. As with the Amur D/8 the cabinet tapers towards the rear to avoid standing waves.

The Accuton C168 operates in a relatively large volume and, unusually for a compact speaker, in a sealed enclosure. Considering the parameters of the bass-midrange driver it was chosen to result in a high pass that is as flat as possible with a very low mounting Q and therefore with a high damping of the resonant frequency. The high pass has a slope of only 7 - 8 dB / octave, i.e. from about 125 Hz the level drops with 7 - 8 dB / octave compared to the normal level. This ensures a very flat phase frequency response in the bass range and thus a very good harmony with the front speakers. The time shift at low frequencies is correspondingly low. The Amur RSD thus harmonizes very well with the Myro Amur D. The concept keeps the option open to expand the Amur RSD with a bass module to a bass-strong floorstanding speaker.
