Infinity Hybrid Class A Amplifier'
The Infinity "HybridClass A" amplifier was built by Infinity to drive the best speakers of the IRS series with it. This HCA was only built in very strictly limited quantities (100 units). The input side of this beast is driven by selected and low noise HI-GRADE tubes from the manufacturer AMPEREX and RCA.
In 1978 Infinity Systems assigned the task of developing an Infinity Hybrid Class A power amplifier to audio developer and engineer Bascom H. King.
The Hybrid A amplifier was built to take full advantage of both technologies: Tubes for the input and voltage amplifier, and transistors for the output and current amplifier.
After a year of hard work, including the help of engineer Bob Day who designed the physical packaging and front panel, the hybrid class A amplifier was finally ready.
Some technical data:
- Introduced: 1978
- Power consumption: 1500W
- Output power: 2 x 150W / 8 ohms, 2 x 280W / 4 ohms, 2 x 400W / 2 ohms, max 2 x 700W.
- Dimensions: WxHxD 483 X 508 X 228 mm.
- Weight: approx. 43kg with packaging
Information comes from www.infinity-classics.de and the release of the data is approved.
